SOAZ partnered with the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committe NFL XLII Youth Football and the Arizona Cardinals to kick off Special Olympics Flag Football. Staring in July 2007, SOAZ athletes had a chance to participate in Super Bowl Flag Football clinics. These clinics touches on Flag Football fundamentals; passing, catching, run pass patterns, defense strategy, etc. Along with the Super Bowl clinics in 2008, the Arizona Cardinals hosted four private clinics solely for SOAZ athletes at the Arizona Cardinals Training Facility where athletes had the opportunity to scrimmage with Arizona Cardinals players and Big Red. Over 450 SOAZ athletes particpated in these events all leading up to the big kick off; SOAZ inaugural State Flag Football competition held Saturday, January 19, 2008. Five delegations participated with our tradtitional and five unified teams
