Over 180,000 Arizonans have an intellectual disability, making it the largest disability group statewide. Intellectual disability crosses racial, ethnic, educational, social and economic lines, and can occur in any family. Our goal is to empower the over 180,000 Arizonans with intellectual disabilities to be healthy, productive, and respected members of society through our year-round sports training, competition, and support programs.

As you may already know, all of our programs are provided at no cost to our 9,100+ athletes. Therefore, we rely heavily on our sponsors to provide funding, in-kind donations, and volunteers. Planned Giving

Annual Giving

Special Olympics Arizona is pleased to provide annual sponsorship opportunities to our corporate partners in Arizona. These sponsorships cover a 12 month period; therefore a sponsor is provided benefit for all five state-level competitions at any entry point during a given year.

Estate Planning

Planned estate donations and legacy giving are an increasingly popular way for individuals of all financial brackets to make charitable gifts to Special Olympics Arizona, enabling a donor to arrange charitable contributions in ways that maximize his or her personal objectives. The most popular gifts include naming Special Olympics Arizona as a beneficiary in a will, making Special Olympics Arizona the owner and beneficiary of a life insurance policy or making a gift to SOAZ of tangible personal property or real estate.

Annuities

Charitable Gift Annuity

The simplest gift arrangement, this is a contract between Special Olympics Arizona and the donor, providing for the payment of life income at a fixed rate. The donor receives an income tax deduction in the year of the gift, subject to the usual rules of deductibility.

Deferred Gift Annuity

A deferred gift annuity is a contract providing for the payment of a fixed income, like a regular gift annuity. However, income payments do not begin until a future date, chosen by the donor. The longer the delay between the creation of the deferred gift annuity and the commencement of payments, the larger the income tax charitable deduction resulting from the gift.
