Polar Plunge

Every year, Special Olympics Arizona and the Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run play host to each of the four Annual Polar Plunges throughout the state.  Superheroes from all walks of life (including Special Olympics athletes, families, friends and fans) plunge into the freezing cold water, all to support SOAZ! And because most of Arizona isn't exactly known for their freezing temperatures, the warmer pools are filled with 1,000 pounds of ice so that plungers can experience the "thrill of the chill" while raising money for a great cause.

If you're brave enough to take the plunge, find an upcoming event near you and then ask all of your friends and family to support you!  To us, you'll be a superhero.  Even if you scream like a little girl!

All plungers receive a commemorative Polar Plunge t-shirt and bragging rights. The more money you raise, the more prizes and incentives you can win. Prizes will be awarded to individuals and teams raising the most money and to those plunging in the best costumes. Whether you brave the icy waters in a costume or not, you'll be our superhero just for being a part of the fun!

You don't need to risk hypothermia to be a Polar Plunge hero. In fact, we need as many warm hearts as brave souls in order to have a successful event. Bring your friends, family and supporters to join in the fun!
